WestConnex is part of an integrated transport plan to keep Sydney moving – to ease congestion, create jobs, and connect communities. The new motorway provides crucial support for Sydney’s long-term economic and population growth.

WestConnex provides a high-quality, 33-kilometre motorway from western Sydney to Sydney Airport and Port Botany. WestConnex will transform urban travel, providing better connectivity between key employment hubs and local communities. By removing traffic from surface roads and local streets, WestConnex will be a catalyst for urban transformation.

Our people’s involvement

  • Principal Development Director for the M4–M5 Link

  • Architect and manager of the program-wide Industry Participation Development Scheme

  • Cost Manager (program-wide), responsible for risk and contingency analysis

  • Project Manager for Parramatta Road, responsible for the considered, integrated planning of WestConnex andParramatta Road infrastructure to meet transport and urban renewal outcomes

  • Transaction Manager for the WestConnex M4 (Stage 1A) and WestConnex Tolling Equipment packages

  • Lead author of the project management, governance, cost estimates, and technical sections of the business case

  • Development and management of procurement programs

  • Provision of program management support to the transaction activities

  • Development of RFT and technical documentation and management of interaction with tenderers

  • Co-ordination of evaluation activities, including analysis of cost, risk, economics, and financials of submitted tenders

  • Development of evaluation and approval documentation

Key achievements and value-add

  • Engaged Tier 1 contractors to develop design options as part of the program business case, an innovative approach that challenged the traditional industry engagement model yet ensured the development of a business case that was market influenced and robust, with a high level of confidence in delivery

  • Effectively managed and integrated development activities and project benefits across government agencies

  • Successfully navigated assurance activities

  • Foresaw future project development opportunities, risks, and challenges using insight gained while undertaking various roles across the program lifecycle

  • Upskilled government employees by providing hands-on guidance to improve their strategic and project development skills for large, complex infrastructure projects
