Services period
2014 to 2015
The M6 (previously known as the F6 Extension and Gateway to the South) will deliver the missing motorway link from Sydney’s south to the wider Sydney motorway network, making journeys easier, faster, and safer. It will remove trucks from surface roads and help return local streets to local communities. The project is a key element of the NSW Government’s transport vision. Stage 1 will see the construction of twin 4-kilometre tunnels linking the New M5 Motorway at Arncliffe to President Avenue at Kogarah.
Stage 1 is anticipated to cost approximately $2.5 billion and has received planning approval. Stage 2 of the motorway will potentially run from Kogarah to Taren Point, and Stage 3 will potentially run from Taren Point to the Princes Highway at Loftus.
