2021 – 2022

The New South Wales Government has set an ambitious target to become a world leading adopter of Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV). CAVs will significantly change the way we travel by enabling safer, smoother and more reliable journeys for passengers and freight.

In order to achieve this target, TfNSW sought support and direction in how to progress a large program of CAV projects (approximately 25 individual projects) through development into delivery, including securing funding pathways.

Our people’s involvement

  • Undertook a detailed program review of current development, business and governance activities with the aim of identifying areas of improvement and optimisation

  • Prepared a concise and effective development and delivery strategy that established a clear vision for the program and proposed a sequencing of projects that would allow for effective re-organisation of program activities to progress investment decision activities

  • Sought stakeholder review and feedback on the strategy and then matured the strategy into an implementation plan.

  • Developed roadmaps of implementation activities, next steps, key milestones, key deliverables, timing and sequence of project development activities, estimated budget allocations, resource and procurement planning (including guidance on internal and external work packages), and scope and definition of future development and business case activities

  • Created best-for-program and best-for-projects development roadmaps, whilst also ensuring compliance with governance and assurance needs

  • Provided strategic advice to maximise the likelihood of a positive governance and assurance outcomes

  • Developed project management and governance plan in support of the implementation plan

  • Assisted the project team in developing governance and assurance materials
