The Sydney Central Station Footprint project included a proposed new under platform concourse within the station connecting to heavy rail and metro platforms at the station to address core transport functional needs at the station. The concourse is proposed to have an at grade connection into the Sydney Metro concourse and connections up to the existing suburban and intercity platforms. The concourse represents a step change in the way customers access and circulate through Sydney Central Station and connect to the surrounding precinct.

The implementation of the works will provide several key customers, transport operation and place making benefits to the Sydney Central Station precinct.
